Cognitive improvement has traditionally been attained through learning and experience. Recent developments have created the possibility of enhancing and improving cognition using cognitive, pharmacological, brain stimulation and technology-based approaches. This unprecedented broadening of methods for cognitive improvement holds much promise for maintaining, improving and regaining cognitive capacities in health and disease, but also creates ethical issues.

 

The Gonda Multidisciplinary Brain Research Center at Bar-Ilan University has organized an international conference on the various aspects of cognitive improvement to discuss the latest developments in this new and quickly developing field. The conference will host international and local leaders in the fields of augmenting cognitive abilities, memory and learning, improving cognitive abilities in aging and disease, brain stimulation, sensory substitution, technology in human enhancement, and their ethical aspects.
